Hi, I’m Shelby

Wife. Mama. Believer. Coffee drinker. Overthinker. Work-in-progress. And probably a lot like you.

I’m a mom trying to raise a good human while also trying to remember who I am outside of being “Mom.” I’m a wife trying to make time for my marriage in the middle of busy schedules and everyday life. I’m a woman trying to take better care of herself, get healthier, create a little more peace in our home, figure out our finances, and build a life that actually feels like ours. And I’m a Christian who has had seasons where my faith felt strong and seasons where I felt really, really far from God. That last part is a big reason you’re here.

From a personal journey to a shared path

Wife. Mama. Believer. Coffee drinker. Overthinker. Work-in-progress.

And probably a lot like you.

I’m a mom trying to raise a good human while also trying to remember who I am outside of being “Mom.”

I’m a wife trying to make time for my marriage in the middle of busy schedules and everyday life.

I didn’t start Light & Clay because I have it all figured out.

I started it because I don’t. There have been plenty of times when I’ve felt overwhelmed by motherhood, work, money, responsibilities, and the never-ending list of things that need to be done.

There have been times when I realized I was giving everything I had to everyone else and leaving very little for myself. And there have been times when I realized I was doing the same thing with God.

I would tell myself I needed to get back into reading my Bible. I needed to pray more. I needed to be more consistent. I needed to get my life together first.

But the truth is, God never asked me to get everything together before coming back to Him.

So, I started coming back exactly as I was.

Tired.

Distracted.

Overwhelmed.

A little lost.

Sometimes with a lot of faith. Sometimes with more questions than answers. And I started realizing something.

Maybe I’m not the only mom who feels this way.

That’s who I created this space for.

Light & Clay is for the mom who loves her family deeply but feels exhausted. For the mom who wants to grow closer to God but doesn’t know where to begin. For the mom who hasn't opened her Bible in a while and feels guilty about it. For the mom who feels like she has lost herself somewhere along the way. For the mom who wants healthier habits but doesn't need another unrealistic morning routine. For the mom who wants more peace, more purpose, more time with her family, and a deeper relationship with God. For the mom who is trying.

Even when trying looks messy. Especially then. I want this to be a place where you can come without feeling like you have to pretend. Because motherhood is beautiful. But it is also hard. Faith is beautiful. But it can also come with questions, doubt, waiting, and seasons where you feel like God is quiet. Life can be beautiful. And still be really freaking hard sometimes. Both things can be true.

So, what is Light & Clay?

It’s my little corner of the internet where I share what I’m learning along the way.

You’ll find faith and Bible study. Motherhood and the everyday chaos that comes with it. Simple wellness and realistic routines. Encouragement for the days when you feel like you're running on empty. Ideas for creating a life that feels a little more intentional. And the things I’m learning as I try to build a life with more freedom, purpose, and time with the people I love.

I’ll share things that have helped me. I’ll share things I’m still working on. And I’ll probably share a few things that completely failed too. Because I don't want this to be another place on the internet where everything looks perfect.

I want it to feel real.

And the name?

Light & Clay came from two things I believe deeply.

Light represents God. His truth. His presence. His goodness. The hope He gives us when we can't see what comes next.

Clay represents us. Imperfect people who are still being shaped. Still learning. Still growing. Still becoming.

I love that because it reminds me that I don't have to be finished to be loved by God.

Neither do you.

If you’re here because you feel a little lost...

I hope you stay.

You don't have to have your faith figured out.

You don't have to become a completely different person overnight.
